This is the 30th year of the Lifestyle Sports - adidas Dublin
Marathon, which is run through the historic Georgian streets of
Dublin, Ireland's largest and capital city. Dublin is home to
a quarter of the country's almost 4 million people. Though founded
by the Vikings, it is now a vibrant, dynamic city where half of
the population are under 25. More than half of the expected entry
of 10,000 will be made up of overseas runners, many of whom will
be returning to sample Irish Hospitality once more.
Included:
4 nights 4* Dublin City-center hotel
(an excellent location for pre-post race activities)
Breakfast daily
(including early breakfast service on race day)
Pre-race 3-course dinner on 25 Oct
(including a pasta option)
Marathon entry
(we handle your registration for you!)
Post-race party
The coveted beautifully engraved medal and a special commemorative
T-shirt,
which is awarded to all finishers
$395 single supplement
$685 non running companion
The
course is single lap, flat, fast course which starts and finishes
close to the City Center. The start will be in Fitzwilliam Square
East and the finish will be in Merrion Square West. The Irish
climate is influenced by the prevailing light South Westerly winds
of the Gulf Stream with average temperatures in October of 12
- 14C (53 - 57F). Dublin has only about 30 inches of rain annually.
Typical conditions are ideal for marathon running.

The
popular sport of long-distance running is transformed for runners
and walkers in the dramatic setting of mountains, glacier lakes,
rugged green-brown landscape which winds in and around the challenging
mountain wilderness of Galway in the west of Ireland. The course
meanders past bogs, hills, lakes, and the Twelve Pin mountains
rising up over the great expanse of Killary Lough, through the
quiet village of Leenane, around the Maam Turk Mountains and all
the way back up to Maam Cross. International participants enjoy
the Irish welcome, the sense of comradeship on the lonely route
and unmistakeable buzz throughout the day. No other sporting event
sends people away with such a taste of Ireland and all its highlights.
The
39 mile Connemara Ultra Marathon run in conjunction with the marathon
is Irelands only on-road ultra Marathon and there is in
fact only one other Ultra event in the country at this time.
