1 |
Arrive to first
guesthouse just outside Sligo in the lovely village of Drumcliffe.
Evening meal together and a general chat about the coming week.

2 |
Our first walk
takes us along the shores of Drumcliffe Bay, passing Lissadell
House, the former home of the Gore-Booth family where Eva Gore-Booth
and Constance Markiewicz grew up. We continue west to Raghly
Point, with fine views across the bay to Knocknarea and Coney
Island.
Walk Details - Distance: 12kms. Duration: 4 hours. Level
seashore walk along sandy and pebbly beaches. Boots essential.

3 |
Today we walk
one of the most spectacular walks in Ireland - right into the
heart of Yeats' country. A glorious day is spent on the southern
hills of the Benbulben Plateau. We climb via King's Gully, walk
east along the escarpment and descend beside Glencar Waterfall,
with a view into the 'Swiss Valley'. Transfer back to Drumcliffe
for dinner and overnight.
Walk Details - Distance: 13kms. Duration: 6 hours. Max. Height:
480m. Green tracks and rocky /rough mountains with no tracks.
Some road walking - boots essential.

4 |
This is your
free day. We offer a boat trip on scenic Lough Gill and a visit
to Parkes Castle, the stronghold of the O'Rourke clan. Transfer
to Boyle. Evening meal and overnight accommodation in Boyle.

5 |
Today's walk
takes us across the Bricklieve and Curlew Mountains from Castlebaldwin
to Boyle. We follow the Historic Trail. On the way we will explore
the passage tomb cemetery of Carrowkeel. Return to our accommodation
for dinner and overnight.
Walk Details - Distance: 14kms. Duration: 5½ hours.
Max. Height: 300m. Grassy tracks and open mountain with some
boggy sections. Some road walking. Boots essential.

6 |
Once again we
start from Castlebaldwin, but we walk east this time to Ballyfarnon
on the northern side of Lough Arrow. Following the Historical
Trail, we visit a number of archaeological sites, including
Heapstown Cairn, the Labby Rock portal tomb and various cairns
and tombs on the legendary battle plain of Moytura (Magh Tuireadh).
Transfer to Drumshanbo for dinner and overnight accommodation.
Walk Details - Distance: 17kms. Duration: 5½ hours.
Max. Height: 220m. Grassy tracks across low hills with some
boggy sections. Some road walking. Boots essential.

7 |
Today we walk
from Ballyfarnon to Arigna on the Miner's Way crossing the ridge
of Alt Norah and Corrie Mountain. This takes us through what
was once an important mining area. At the end of the walk we
have the opportunity tovisit the Arigna Mining Experience visitor
centre. Overnight and farewell evening dinner in Drumshanbo.
Walk Details - Distance: 16kms. Duration: 5½ hours.
Max. Height: 420m. Grassy tracks and open mountain with some
boggy sections. Some road walking. Boots essential.
