your trip in Scotland's capital, Edinburgh, with its choice of cultural
and historic attractions. Explore the Old Town, the city's historic
heart, with its quaint alleys, called 'closes', leading off the
Royal Mile. Sample some traditional music in one of the many venues
in the city. Edinburgh is one of Europe's great capitals and offers
a wide range of places to see, things to do, and a vibrant cultural
life. It is compact enough to discover on foot with a healthy walk
to visit the iconic Edinburgh Castle. The city is full of folklore
and offers a great selection of historical and ghost tours. Overnight:
Edinburgh x 2 nights (B) |

| Pick
up your car rental and depart Edinburgh for Fife, crossing the Forth
Bridge. The fishing villages of the East Neuk are photogenic, the
seafood restaurants are tempting, but if golf is your sport, then
St Andrews is a must. The charming town offers plenty to keep non-golfers
busy during your game. Continue on to Perth, an attractive town
by the banks of the River Tay. Its easy-to-navigate streets are
worth exploring, with plenty of shops, cafes and pubs, as well as
a museum and galleries. Overnight: Perth x 1 night (B) |

A
scenic drive culminates with pinewood and moorland views and a
fine panorama view over the inner Moay Firth on the approach to
Inverness. The Highland capital has great shopping, restaurants,
pubs and nightlife and offers the option of visiting Loch Ness
and the spectacular lochside ruins of Urquhart Castle. Combined
bus and boat cruises leave from the city centre. Fascinating places
easily reached from Inverness also include Fort George, Europe's
best preserved 18th-century fortress, Culloden battlefield, or
spectacularly scenic Glen Affric, all available on a day tour
by bus. Alternatively, discover the Moray Firth resort town of
Nairn (frequent bus or train services) with its beautiful beaches
- with a chance of seeing dolphins from the shore. Boat cruises
also operate from Inverness and Nairn. Overnight: Inverness
x 2 nights (B)

| Leave
Inverness to journey back over the high Grampian hills en route
for Stirling. Break your journey at the little resort town of Pitlochry,
to visit the Blair Athol Distillery at the southern edge of the
town. Continue on your way to Stirling, Stirling Castle dominates
the town's skyline; the town grew up around this once strategically
important fortress. Meander your way to the castle by way of the
busy shopping streets as you stroll through the atmospheric Old
Town and Esplanade with its magical views. Overnight: Stirling
